OpenOffice.org, commonly known as OOo or OpenOffice, is an open-source software application suite available for a number of different computer operating systems. It is distributed as free software and written using its own GUI toolkit. It supports the ISO/IEC standard OpenDocument Format (ODF) for data interchange as its default file format, as well as Microsoft Office formats among others. As of November 2009, OpenOffice supports over 110 languages.

Open Office works wonderfully with Screen Readers such as NVDA and Thunder. However, some users have reported that not all Tabs and dialogue boxes are being read with their screen readers. You then need to enable assistive technology support in OpenOffice.org. You can do this from the Accessibility page of the Options dialog. Unfortunately, before you enable this, OpenOffice.org is inaccessible, which makes this task extremely difficult for a screen reader user. Alternatively, download and run the registry patch from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] This link also provides supports for other issues with applications used with the NVDA screenreader.

lol! I will be adding more information regarding OpenOffice and it's compatibility with screen readers in this thread over a period of time. Please add any queries you may have.
